L’Haitiana I opens a visual reflection on cultural visibility and global representation. The work depicts a single female figure holding a football (soccer ball) under her arm — a gesture of quiet strength marking Haiti’s return to the World Cup after 52 years. In this image, sport becomes a global language of re-emergence and cultural assertion. Haiti, long positioned at the margins of dominant global narratives, is here reimagined as a presence advancing toward the center of the world stage, with a straight posture and composed dignity before the scale of global power. The image evokes a contemporary condition of reversal: a reversal of established hierarchies, where visibility is no longer granted but claimed.
